Louise M Rosenblatt Louise Michelle Rosenblatt (23 August 1904 in Atlantic City, New Jersey – 8 February 2005 in Arlington, Virginia ) was an American university professor. She is best known as a researcher into the teaching of literature. After graduating from Barnard College in 1925, Rosenblatt studied abroad, earning her doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris. During her more than 70-year career, she wrote numerous articles and five books, including Literature as Exploration, now in its fifth edition (Connell, J.M., 2005).

She attended Brnard College in New York City. She received a doctorate in Comparative Literature while studying the culture in France.

Rosenblatt began as a literary historian and literary critic, publishing at age 27 a book in French on the “Art for Art’s Sake” movement in England.
